5 tips for perfect scans

Simple habits that make your scanned documents look sharp and professional.

Good scans start before you press the shutter. Here are five tips to get crisp, readable PDFs every time.

1. Use contrast to your advantage

Place a light document on a dark surface. This helps PDFfy detect the page edges automatically and crop precisely.

2. Light it evenly

Natural daylight works best. Avoid direct overhead lamps that cast your own shadow onto the page, and turn off the flash for glossy paper to prevent glare.

3. Hold steady and parallel

Keep your phone parallel to the document. PDFfy corrects perspective automatically, but a straight angle always gives the sharpest text.

4. Pick the right filter

  • Original — for photos, colored forms and stamps.
  • Black & White — for text documents; increase sharpness to make faint text pop.
  • Enhanced — for receipts and low-contrast paper.

5. Check before you share

Swipe through the pages in the editor, rotate any that came out sideways, and reorder them with drag & drop before exporting the PDF.

Tip: you can export only selected pages — tap Select in the page collection, choose pages and export.
